1. Definitions and scope

These terms govern your use of all online services of kaan.life and its subdomains, including the kaan.life website with its feedback feature, the powerlifting records site (powerlifting.kaan.life), the AI chat service advchat (advchat.kaan.life and www.kaan.life) and the sign-in service (sso.kaan.life). In these terms we call them together "the services".

We offer the services. We are:

By using the services you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the services.

2. The services

The services are free. We provide them as they are, without a guarantee that they are always available, error-free or complete. We may change, limit or end the services at any time.

3. Account and sign-in

Some services require an account. The following rules apply:

You provide correct and current information when you register.
Your account is personal. Keep your login details secret and do not share them with others.
You are responsible for what happens with your account, unless you can show that misuse was not your fault. If you suspect misuse of your account, report it right away through our contact address.
One account gives you access to our services through the central sign-in service.

4. Acceptable use

You use the services only for lawful purposes. You may not:

use the services for unlawful, deceptive or harmful activities;
post or send content that is unlawful or infringes the rights of others;
use the AI features to create unlawful, deceptive or harmful content;
bypass security, overload the services or evade request limits;
collect data in an automated way that disrupts the services.

If you break these rules, we may suspend or end your access (chapter 10).

5. User content and feedback

You keep the rights to the content you submit, such as chat messages, feedback and documents. You allow us to use that content to provide and improve the services. For feedback, you also allow us to use it free of charge and without further obligation to adjust the services.

You guarantee that you have the right to share the content you submit with us.

6. Intellectual property and data sources

The services, including the software, design and our own content, belong to us or our licensors. You may use them as intended, but you may not copy or reuse them without permission, unless the law allows it.

The competition data on the powerlifting records site comes from public sources, including the OpenPowerlifting dataset and the public publications of the KNKF powerlifting section. We credit those sources on the site. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data from those sources.

7. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data. That policy forms part of your use of the services.

8. AI content

Parts of the services use artificial intelligence. AI answers can be wrong, incomplete or outdated. Check important information yourself before you rely on it. AI answers are no legal, medical or financial advice. The competition data we show can contain errors too; the official results of the organising federation prevail.

9. Liability and indemnification

The services are free. We are not liable for damage from your use of the services, from incorrect or incomplete information, or from interruption or termination of the services, unless the damage results from intent or deliberate recklessness on our side. Mandatory law, including consumer protection law, remains in force.

You indemnify us against third-party claims that arise from your use of the services in breach of these terms.

10. Termination and suspension

We may suspend your access or end your account if you break these terms, if the security of the services requires it, or if we shut down a service. Where reasonable, we warn you first.

You can have your account removed at any time through our contact address. Our privacy policy describes what happens with your data after that.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The current version is always available at tos.kaan.life, with a version number and effective date. For major changes we inform account holders where reasonably possible. If you use the services after the effective date of a change, the changed terms apply.

12. Language

We wrote these terms in Dutch and translated them into English. If the two versions differ, the Dutch text prevails.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

Dutch law governs these terms and your use of the services. We submit disputes to the competent court of the district of our registered address [INVULLEN: district, follows from the registered address], unless mandatory law designates another court.
